The reason I have such a Sailor mouth...  I'm college educated and pretty well spoken, however, I have a pretty extensive vocabulary when it comes to profanity.  Aww, I think I finally figured out the reason that I cuss so much.  Well, you see, when I was five years old there was one influential movie that changed the way I began to express myself.  Ha! The movie was Eddie Murphy Raw.  My aunt and uncle were watching me, and had already made plans to see the movie so they brought me along.  Well, little did they know that I would return home to my parents repeating every little word that Eddie Murphy said.  My parents were pissed! I have tried desperately to cleanse my filthy mouth, but nothing has worked.  I am capable of finding replacement words but there never seems to be a great word that shows hostility, frustration, or anger like a good cuss word.

Another piviotal moment in my life that probably had some influence on this dirty little mouth of mine was Popeye.  Yeah, you heard me right, Popeye.  Think about it, could anyone understand him? Hell, I know that I couldn't.  So, I probably imagined him having a filthy mouth, but the sound of his voice alone cracks me up. Am I the only one with a Sailor mouth? Enjoy the clip below of Eddie Murphy's Raw.

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with a lot of Canadian movies, books, etc.  I've been trying to figure out why I was so obsessed.  I think that the movies and books had more fantasy.  There was one movie in particular called, "The Great Land of Small."  I would watch that movie hundreds of times and drive everyone in my house crazy singing the theme song.  Does anyone remember that movie? I swear, they don't make great movies like that anymore.  I kinda miss originality in films.

I was also obsessed with the Anne of Green Gables books and anything that Lucy M. Montgomery wrote.  Aww, Canada! It's too bad I've never been to visit.  Maybe one of these days.  I need to start writing my scripts and develop my own children stories.  Kids really don't know what they're missing because television, movies, and books just isn't what it use to be.

Here's a clip of my favorite childhood film, The Great Land of Small.  Tell me what you think!

I may be jumping the gun here, but this is by far the best movie of the year.  I definitely think that Tobey Maguire deserves every award that he's nominated for.  It deals with pain, PTSD, betrayal... so many things make this a great movie.  I actually want to see it again.  Love it! And, Natalie Portman did a phenomenal job as well.  Go see it!

I absolutely love this movie.  I was probably 6 when I saw this movie.  I cried and cried and cried.  It was so sad when Hillary Whitney, played by Barbara Hershey died.  Also, Wind Beneath my Wings is my favorite song.  So touching! This film to me is one of the best movies about friendship and loyalty.  Never underestimate true friendship.

Since it's Halloween, I thought that it would be fun to post a scary weekend movie.  My movie choice for the week is Nightmare on Elm Street 1.  I was 6 years old when I first saw this movie.  My granddaddy use to let me stay up late and watch scary movies. lol.  I use to be scared out of my mind and have the craziest nightmares, but I still love a good scary movie.  HAHA, I still remember the theme song.  Do you remember???

I'm uncertain what to think of this, but did anyone watch 60 Minutes??? Allegedly, writer/director Spike Lee referred to Tyler Perry shows as buffoonery and coonery.  Perry was "pissed" and responded.  I've never seen his television shows, so I can't really respond; however, a lot of people LOVE his shows.  Watch the clip below.

I'm confused...
But, what else is knew.  People confuse me with their off behavior.  So, I went to the movies a while back with a platonic guy friend.  I'll admit, I was intoxicated and pretty much out of it.  Well, I started to get tired and I couldn't stop myself and fell asleep.  My friend was upset, but never expressed it to me, I could just sense it.

Months went by and not a word from him, so I decided to call after the 100th time of my messages being ignored.  Bottom line, he was upset but refused to say why.  I bluntly asked "do you like me?" I figured, what the hell else could it be, right?" He said, "I think that you're a beautiful girl, but I see you as a friend."  Ok, cool, we're on the same page, but why did you ignore me for two months??? Was it that deep? Just curious!

I got no explanation...

What do you think, was I totally in the wrong?

[Side Note] I apologized immediately after the incident but he was still pretty upset with me.

I love the movie The Wiz, and I could probably watch it 100 times.  I had to post this movie as a weekend clip.  "Ease on down, ease on down, the road!" Love it! What's your favorite weekend movie? Tell me and it may be posted here next week.

Ok, I live for this movie.  It is one of the best in my eyes.

Based on the classic by Harlem Renaissance author Zora Neale Hurston, the film depicts the timeless, lyrical and passionate story of a beautiful and resilient woman's quest for love, sensual excitement and spiritual fulfillment, despite society's expectations of a woman of color in 1920s America. Ms. Berry stars as Janie Crawford, whose journey takes her through three marriages with very different men, and during which she experiences all that life has to offer, from tremendous success to unspeakable heartbreak.

I cried watching this movie, laughed and smiled.  If you haven't seen it...you must! After watching this movie, I wanted Halle and Michael Ealy to be together in real life.  No one can deny the chemistry that they had.  I guess it's not too hard to have sparks fly with Michael. HA!

Here's a clip:

Last night I went to go see the movie The Orphan.  I expected to be scared out of my mind but I wasn't.  That's ok, I still thought that it was well written.  The movie was definitely a good suspense and I would recommend it.  While watching, I couldn't help but think about how it reminded me of The Good Son and The Bad Seed combined.  Isabelle Fuhrman is the little girl who played the role of Esther "the orphan."  She's only 12 years old! I'm still in shock at how well she played the role.  Two thumbs up to her.  I won't tell the ending of the movie, but it was definitely crazy.  Have you seen the movie??? What's your favorite suspense film?

Bernice Rhodenbarr who is played by Whoppi Goldberg is a retired "cat burglar" who runs a used bookstore. She is lured out of retirement when a retired cop (who busted her before) demands money to keep quiet about some evidence he withheld in one of her prior jobs. She agrees to a burglary job for a lady dentist, but theft leads to murder, and it's up to Bernice to try to prove her innocence
I could probably watch this movie 100x's and never get tired of it.  Whoppi Goldberg was great in this movie.  It's definitely one of my favorite movies.  My favorite part is in the beginning when she breaks into someone's home and gets caught--I swear, I laughed until I could laugh no more.  Classic! What's your favorite Whoppi Goldberg movie???
